Hair Trends 2011 Harrisburg Polished Salon and Spa

Voted one of the premiere Hair Salons Harrisburg offers, Polished Spa, gives you the hair trends for Spring 2011.

Volume

During New York’s Spring 2011 Fashion Week, tresses were teased to the sky. Pompadours and bouffants predominated. Create teased looks using the following stylist tips: Work on totally dry hair to minimize breakage. Curl hair before starting, unless you desire a smoother look, like a beehive. Use a tail comb or brush and start teasing sections at the top of the head, working your way back. Brush/comb in the opposite direction of hair growth. Spray each section with hairspray for hold.

Braids

Alexander McQueen, Hermes and Valentino all used intricate braiding and plaits. Celebrities sported long, side plaits. No longer regulated to the playground, wear an elegant braided look for evening events. Braid clean, dry hair. Remove tangles from hair to facilitate the braiding process. After completing the braid, keep fine hair in place by applying hair spray.

Dip Dye Coloring

According to UK Vogue, artists Nicki Manaj and Lady Gaga are sporting the latest hair trend- dip dye coloring. The title refers to a look where hair tips are dyed a different color than the rest of the hair. The look ranges from subtle- blonde tips on brunettes, to extreme- pink on blonde tresses. Leave dip dye processing to the beauty professionals, accidents lead to costly corrections.

Waves

Wave create a sexy, touchable look. Numerous designers gave their models tousled, bed-head looks. Apply volumizing product to freshly washed hair. Blow dry. Use a large barreled curling iron to create large curls. An optional step involves rolling curls and pinning them close to the scalp with a bobby pin to create longer lasting waves. After curls have cooled, use your fingers to loosen waves. Apply hair serum for shine.
